OUR MINISTRIES

  • LUTHERAN MEN IN MISSION

Mt. Olivet’s Lutheran Men’s unit was chartered by the South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission in 1983.  We have been active for 40+ years supporting the state’s mission:  “We will make disciples of men that have a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.  We do this by financial support of the Lutheran mission churches in South Carolina along with the Master Builders Bible Program, One Year to Live Retreats, Building Men through Christ Seminars, and Men in Action young men events.”  Our unit is comprised of members and friends of the congregation who gather for fellowship, service, and spiritual growth.  Some of our programs are Bible Studies, Project Planning Sessions, Service and Outreach Opportunities, and Unit Award Process.  Our projects include maintaining outside displays of Lenten Crosses and Manger Scene, supporting the We Care Christmas Project, and participating in the VBS Mission Project.  Mt. Olivet’s unit was presented a South Carolina Outstanding Unit Award in 1994 and 1998, and also, have received the award in 9 of the last 11 years.  Our group normally meets at a local restaurant at 9:00 am on the 1st Saturday of each month for breakfast.  We share updates on projects, discuss spiritual opportunities, and conduct a business meeting.  We also enjoy the fellowship with other Lutheran Men’s Groups in the area at the Heartland Conference Quarterly Meetings.  Our unit continues to seek ways to grow in numbers and to improve our community service and outreach.  We strongly urge all men of the congregation to join us!

  • WOMEN OF THE ELCA

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing, and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. Community, Growth, and Action-our three mission areas are at the heart of the ministry of Women of the ELCA.  These three mission areas unite us in our one mission:  To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.  Our group meets 4 times a year on the 1st Monday of February, May, August and November.

  • SPRINGHILL F.A.C.E.S

The Springhill FACES (Friends at Church Eating and Socializing) group meets the third Friday of each month in the fellowship hall at Mt. Olivet at 11am. Each month there are different presenters who come to share their interests, trade, and/or professional expertise with the group. Former presenters have included community school officials, local news personalities, animal trainers, musical guests, local law enforcement, medical and financial experts, etc. Some of the presentations are for sheer entertainment but others are very educationally enlightening. After the presentation each month there is a delicious lunch and great fellowship. You do not have to be a member of Mt. Olivet or Mt. Hermon to be a part of this group. We have many folks from the community that attend monthly and we are enriched by whoever chooses to come! All are welcomed and encouraged to come share this time of food and fellowship with us!

  • PARISH MONTHLY SUPPER

All are welcome to attend a Monthly themed Dinner in the Fellowship Hall at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church.  Themes include Valentine's, St. Patrick's Day, Easter party, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Back to School Cookout, Halloween Carnival and Christmas catered Gathering.

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL

Mt. Olivet offers Sunday School classes for all children from nursery age through high school from 10:00-10:40 am every Sunday morning. Our classes offer children and youth the opportunity to learn Bible stories and songs and grow together in faith. Students learn the parables of Jesus and how they relate to everyday life. Mt. Olivet also offers Adult Sunday school class every Sunday morning from 10:00-10:30 am. The classes offer a time to study the scriptures and discuss their impact on us as Christians.

  • VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School is a special week for Peak Springhill Parish! During this week we meet jointly at one of the churches and have special classes, meals, fellowship, and fun, following a special theme. All are welcome to join in the festivities!
