OUR MINISTRIES

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL

Mt. Olivet offers Sunday School classes for all children from nursery age through high school from 10:00-10:30 am every Sunday morning. Our classes offer children and youth the opportunity to learn Bible stories and songs and grow together in faith. Students learn the parables of Jesus and how they relate to everyday life. Mt. Olivet also offers Adult Sunday school class every Sunday morning from 10:00-10:30 am. The classes offer a time to study the scriptures and discuss their impact on us as Christians.

  • LUTHERAN MEN IN MISSION

We will make disciples of men that have a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this by financial support of the Lutheran mission churches in South Carolina along with the Master Builders Bible Program, One Year to Live Retreats, Building Men through Christ Seminars, & Men in Action young men events. Some of our programs are Bible Studies, Project Planning Sessions, Service & Outreach Opportunities, and Unit Award Process. Our projects include Maintaining Outside Displays of Lenten Crosses and Manger Scene, Lutheran Men Sunday, & Operation InAsMuch. We team with the Social Ministry Committee to provide meals for grieving families whose loved ones have passed, with the Youth to collect clothing and toiletry items for the Isle of Palms Homeless shelter, and with WELCA to prepare the meal for Family Night. Our group normally meets on the 1st Monday evening of each month at 7:00 pm for a meal followed by a program/business meeting. We also enjoy the fellowship with other Lutheran Men’s Groups in the area at the Heartland Conference Quarterly Meetings. Our unit continues to seek ways to grow in numbers and to improve our community service and outreach. We strongly urge all men of the congregation to join us!

  • WOMEN OF THE ELCA

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing, and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. Recent programs we have participated in include World Day of Prayer, Operation Inasmuch and World Hunger appeal. We often have projects, including collecting food donations and toiletries for We Care of Chapin, Harvest Hope Food Bank, and Southside Residential Home. WELCA welcomes any woman and invites all women to join our group. We all work together to serve our church, community, and world. We meet on the 1st Monday night of each month (except when it falls on a holiday) at 6:00 p.m.with our business meeting followed by a meal.

  • PSP YOUTH

Our youth are very active in the life of our congregations! We have monthly meetings and other activities throughout the year. From beach retreats to ski trips to our annual Youth Sunday worship leadership to attending the ELCA National Youth Gatherings, the youth are always into something! Each congregation faithfully loves, supports (financially and otherwise), and appreciates their youth because we as a parish know that the youth aren't just the church of tomorrow, they are also the church of today! If you are interested in knowing more about specific youth activities please don't hesitate to contact us!

  • LITTLEST LUTHERANS

This group of parents & children meet monthly for an activity, meal and Bible Story. The gatherings are held the 1st or 2nd Sunday of every month and last 2-3 hours. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other families in the church and community and to introduce your child into the youth at Peak Springhill Parish. The gatherings offer families an opportunity to continue their faith formation in an informal setting. Families with children age 2 through the 6th grade are invite to join us for our monthly gatherings. Confirmation and High school children are invited to come and help out with crafts and meals. Come and join in the fun and fellowship!

Our fundraisers throughout the year include: Penny-a-Pound Adopt A Highway Trash pickup Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Community Yard Sale Luminaries The annual Relay for Life is held in May every year. Together, we "celebrate, remember and fight back!" Please consider joining our team!

  • SERVANTS OF THE SERVANT

Servants of the Servant (SOS) is a ministry that was grown out of the Holy Spirit. This program came to fruition in September 2012 through the help of the SC Synod Bishop's staff and the willingness of a few congregations to partner for the purpose of serving those in need in the immediate area surrounding the congregations and beyond! This group has monthly activities including Feeding the Hungry in Finlay Park the third Sunday of every month, yearly clothing and canned good drives, participation in Operation Inasmuch service projects, and engagement with the community and service organizations in the area through various activities. This ministry lives into each congregation's mission statements but most importantly into the mission statement of Christ, which sends all of his children into the world to baptize and bless others (especially those in need) in the name of the triune God.

  • SPRINGHILL F.A.C.E.S

The Springhill FACES (Friends at Church Eating and Socializing) group meets the third Friday of each month in the fellowship hall at Mt. Olivet at 11am. Each month there are different presenters who come to share their interests, trade, and/or professional expertise with the group. Former presenters have included community school officials, local news personalities, animal trainers, musical guests, local law enforcement, medical and financial experts, etc. Some of the presentations are for sheer entertainment but others are very educationally enlightening. After the presentation each month there is a delicious lunch and great fellowship. You do not have to be a member of Mt. Olivet or Mt. Hermon to be a part of this group. We have many folks from the community that attend monthly and we are enriched by whoever chooses to come! All are welcomed and encouraged to come share this time of food and fellowship with us!
